About this work, Shannon says:
'During my travels through Terracina in Italy I began noticing these elaborate life-sized ribbons pinned to many of the fences in coastal suburbia. I came to realise that this was a tradition used to gesture to the neighbourhood that there was a baby coming. In this photograph we see hundreds of small pink ribbons form a larger ribbon sculpture. I found this to be a tactile reminder of how gender binaries play out in culture.'
